Can you imagine tuning into a show about a book you've never heard of and watching a woods guide walking around the forest for 2 hours? Of course not. The story is changed a bit, especially the time line, but that is expected to keep it exciting and suspenseful for a TV audience, which it is. The camera work and ambiance is smooth and satisfying for the fantasy genre of swordplay, magic and high adventure on an epic scale.

So, written above, is my claim to believability. I am an avid reader of classic literature since 1975, especially fantasy. I am a published author myself, as well as having a profile on this website. What I got was my favorite fantasy series of all time, including Tolkien and Jordan. Zedd convinces Denna to leave the compass behind and fake their deaths so as to prevent Kahlan and Cara from searching for him, but the two realize something is wrong and keep searching until Kahlan and Cara kill Denna and rescue Zedd.I bought Wizard's First Rule the day it was released in 1994, simply because of the great cover art and my love for new, good fantasy books. He agrees to accompany the Sisters to the Palace of the Prophets in the Old World by Kahlan's request, even though it means abandoning his quest. They reveal to Richard that he is a wizard and must immediately abandon his mission in order to train, or the unharnessed power will kill him.

In pursuit, Richard is suddenly crippled by a series of debilitating headaches, after which he encounters members of an orderknown as the Sisters of the Light. But Denna eludes them and escapes with a captive Zedd. Richard, Kahlan, Zedd, and Cara track down Denna, who took the compass needed to find the Stone of Tears. Zedd is captured by the Mord'Sith Denna, and Richard must abandon his mission to rescue him to begin a dangerous life-changing journey learning to harness and train his wizard powers.
